Course Description 

The Emergency Paediatric First Aid Course is a 1 day in person course that soley focuses on emergency situations that children and infants may face. 

Who Should Attend

Ideal for community first responders, workplace first-aiders expanding their skills, volunteers, lone workers, or anyone likely to encounter medical emergencies.

Participants should be physically able to perform basic life support and patient handling.

Minimum Age

The qualification is available to learners who are aged 16 and over. ​

Course Validity

The qualification is valid for 3 years from date of issue. It is strongly recommended that the learner attends annual refresher training.

Complete your full course face-to-face with one of our experienced trainers. Ideal if you prefer hands-on, practical learning in a group setting.

Course Content

1. Scene Safety and Patient Assessment:

   - Be able to conduct a scene survey

  - Be able to use PPE equipment

   - Be able to conduct a primary survey

   - Be able to conduct a secondary survey

   - Understand the principles of medication administration

2. Responding to Life-Threatening Emergencies:

   - Be able to provide treatment to an unresponsive patient

   - Be able to manage an airway obstructed by a foreign body

   - Be able to provide treatment to a patient experiencing catastrophic haemorrhage

   - Be able to treat a patient experiencing shock

   - Be able to treat a patient experiencing anaphylaxis

3. Responding to Illness and Medical Conditions:

   - Be able to provide treatment to a patient with a suspected respiratory condition

   - Be able to provide treatment to a patient with suspected cardiovascular condition

   - Be able to provide treatment to a patient with a suspected neurological condition

   - Be able to manage a patient experiencing a diabetic emergency

   - Know how to provide treatment to a patient affected by sudden poisoning

   - Be able to administer Oxygen to a patient

4. Responding to Injuries:

   - Be able to provide treatment to a patient with minor injuries

   - Be able to provide treatment to a patient with a wound

   - Be able to provide treatment to a patient experiencing bleeding

   - Be able to provide treatment to a patient with burns and scalds

   - Be able to treat a patient with suspected injuries to bones, muscles and joints

   - Be able to treat a patient with suspected head and spinal injuries

   - Understand how to treat a patient with suspected chest injuries

   - Understand the management of abdominal injuries

   - Understand when Clinical intervention is needed for the management of injuries
